Types of Cancer Treatments
Patients often experience far-reaching side effects as a result not only of the cancer with which they are diagnosed, but also the treatments they undergo. If you have or have had cancer, our Wellness & Prevention program will help you manage those effects whether physical, emotional or spiritual.
The Wellness & Prevention Program at St. Vincent Healthcare is geared towards the individual needs of each patient. From learning to choose and prepare nutritious foods that their bodies can better tolerate to smoking cessation, proper exercise and stress management, we provide the information and support they need.
Additional programs which may be helpful or of interest to cancer patients include:
Walk ‘n Talk With the Doc – Getting our community up and moving is the goal of Walk-n-Talk With the Doc, a weekly exercise opportunity hosted by Dr. Cheryl Cook. Held each Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Billings Family YMCA, each Walk-n-Talk session begins with a health tip and brief health discussion—and frequently features special guest speakers. Then the whole group heads out for a walk, where individuals can ask questions, get to know other walkers and just have fun.
LiveStrong – Offered in partnership with the Billings Family YMCA, the 12-week LiveStrong program is designed to meet the needs of cancer patients who are making the shift to cancer survivor. Attending a minimum of two classes each week, participants strengthen muscles, increase flexibility and improve energy levels. For additional information, phone Kassia Lyman at (406) 294-1624 or Mistie Mims at (406) 294-1616.
Living Well – The St. Vincent Healthcare Living Well program has been created to offer on-site health screenings and continued education at businesses and organizations throughout our region. The program includes personal health risk assessments, customized solutions and confidential online services.
