Maternal Fetal Medicine
St. Vincent Physician Network - Maternal Fetal Medicine provides care for women who are high risk or have complications of pregnancy, such as obstetric, medical, surgical or genetic complications. Women are treated and given information about what to expect before, during and after the pregnancy.
High-risk pregnancies can mean there are concerns with the mother, the baby or both. Our high-risk doctor at St. Vincent Physician Network – Maternal Fetal Medicine can help identify any special needs before the baby is born due to advances in ultrasound. At St. Vincent Physician Network – Maternal Fetal Medicine, our ultrasonographer uses optimal imaging technology and can provide 2D, 3D and 4D resolution for sonogram images. High-risk pregnancy patients receive the best ultrasound services available in this region. Better images allow for earlier detection of potential issues, which means earlier treatment and therapies. Medications can be delivered directly to the baby while in the uterus, blood transfusions can be done and shunt procedures performed.
Because St. Vincent Healthcare has a variety of pediatric specialists, St. Vincent Physician Network – Maternal Fetal Medicine is a natural intake point for coordinating care for your baby starting in utero. Dr. Wallace, of St. Vincent Physician Network – Maternal Fetal Medicine, is the only physician in the area who performs in-utero procedures.
Specialized OB/Neonatal teams are available to transport high risk pregnancies, premature and full-term babies in need of specialty care to St. Vincent Healthcare (SVH) via the HELP Flight air ambulances. SVH also offers a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
The physicians at St. Vincent Physician Network – Maternal Fetal Medicine and their staff work in partnership with your personal obstetrician or family physician, and welcome referrals for scheduled appointments, telephone questions, inpatient consultations and emergency maternal transport.
