May 28, 2009
Employees of St. Vincent Healthcare’s Laurel Medical Center presented a check for $4,258.55 to Laurel Senior Citizen’s Center. The check presentation came on Thursday, April 30th to the officers and members of the Laurel Senior Citizen’s Center.
Laurel Senior Citizen’s Center’s President, Marvin Carter, stated, “Thank you so much for your kind support of the Laurel Senior Citizen’s Center! Your donation is greatly appreciated and these funds will be put to good use.”
This gift comes to the Laurel Senior Citizen’s Center through St. Vincent Healthcare’s Share Our Spirit (SOS) campaign. Each fall St. Vincent Healthcare offers its employees the opportunity to say “I gave at the Office” during the annual employee giving campaign. Laurel Medical Center Manager, Lynn George and Cynthia Cellmer, the clinic’s SOS Ambassador, surveyed the community to select a not for profit organization and chose the Laurel Senior Citizen’s Center to receive the funds donated by employees.
St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation SOS Campaign Coordinator Susie Barbero and Campaign Co-Chair, Brenda Nagel drove from St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings to help present the check. “These St. Vincent Healthcare employees of the Laurel Medical Center have certainly showed their generous spirit,” commented Barbero. “We are delighted they are directing their contributions to help fund services and building repairs at the Laurel Senior Citizen’s Center.”
During the 2008 employee giving campaign, 47% of the 2200 St. Vincent Healthcare employees chose to gift over $242,000 in support of fellow SVH employees in need and for community human service programs including the United Way of Yellowstone County.
