St. Vincent Healthcare: Achieves Third ACR Accreditation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE St. Vincent Healthcare: Achieves Third ACR Accreditation Only Billings CT Center to Achieve Designation Billings, Montana, Wednesday, August 18, 2010 - St. Vincent Healthcare has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Computed Tomography (CT) Scanning. This designation is the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR). This accreditation signifies the St. Vincent CT Department imaging equipment and personnel expertise meet the highest standards of the radiology profession in delivering care to patients. At St. Vincent Healthcare, ACR achievement includes accreditation for both 64 and 320 Slice CT scanners. St. Vincent is one of the first health organizations in the nation to achieve ACR designation for its 320 Slice CT Scanner. This revolutionary and highly sophisticated technology allows doctors to diagnose a patient faster, easier and with a potential for significant reduction in radiation exposure. In October 2009 the St. Vincent Healthcare Imaging Center was also designated ACR accredited in OB, Gynecological and General & Vascular Ultrasound Services including: Peripheral Vascular & Cerebrovascular ultrasound. Also, in November 2008 the St. Vincent Healthcare Yellowstone Breast Center was also designated a “Breast Imaging Center of Excellence” by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR, headquartered in Reston, Va., awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of its practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance program. The surveyors report their finding to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report. The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs for focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
