P.E.A.K.S. - "People Everywhere Are Kind and Sharing" - is a volunteer auxiliary group which has raised money for the former Northern Rockies Radiation Oncology Center (NRROC) patients for 23 years. Since its establishment in the Spring 1988, P.E.A.K.S. has been a grass-roots volunteer group, raising more than $500,000 over the years to help cancer patients. P.E.A.K.S. members organize a variety of fundraising events, including their famous annual neighborhood garage sale, bowl-a-thons, an annual style show, spaghetti feeds, golf-a-thons, and the "Share the Spirit" Gala.
P.E.A.K.S. Board Chair Bonnie Duray said, "As long as we make a dollar to help cancer patients and we have fun doing it, we've met our goal."
Despite the closure of NRROC in October 2010, P.E.A.K.S. continues its dedication to helping cancer patients in need through this new affiliation. The St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation will serve as the P.E.A.K.S. home base as it continues its mission to assist patients in need.
David Irion, President/CEO of the Foundation praised the P.E.A.K.S. members for their work over the years and said, "Members of this wonderful grass-roots organization have been key to making life better for cancer patients and their families. We are proud to assist these great folks in continuing their mission."
