The Tumor Registry is an essential component of the cancer program at St. Vincent Healthcare. Tumor registry is responsible for identifying and reporting all malignant and certain benign tumors to the Montana State Tumor Registry as mandated by law. The certified tumor registry (CTR) staff abstracts data on individuals who have been diagnosed and/or treated at SVH into a computerized system designed for collection, management, and analysis of cancer data. Lifetime patient follow-up is an essential part of the tumor registry, who achieve a 90% follow-up rate.
St. Vincent Healthcare participates in the National Cancer Data Base (NCBD). This data is used to assess the quality of patient care and compare treatment and outcomes with the regional, state and national patterns of care.
Additional duties within the tumor registry department include coordinating weekly tumor and breast conferences and ensuring compliance with the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACoS) program accreditation standards.
