Visiting a Patient
Can parents stay overnight?
Yes. We understand that your presence is part of the best medicine we can offer. But because our space is limited, we must ask moms and dads to take turns sleeping in their child's room. In special circumstances, our staff can make arrangements for both parents to stay overnight.
If your child is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, you can stay in the nearby Ronald McDonald Sleep Room® when available. Please ask our staff for more details.
The Ronald McDonald House offers accommodates for families of children undergoing medical treatment. Call 406-256-8006.
May I phone the hospital when I'm unable to be there?
You may call the hospital any time, day or night to check on your child. The number is 237-7450.
When can other family members and friends visit?
Visiting hours are unlimited for grandparents and members of your immediate family. Others may visit any day between 9am and 8pm.
In Pediatric Intensive Care, no more than two people may visit at any one time.
We do our best to maintain a secure, peaceful atmosphere for our patients. For this reason, after 8pm all visitors must enter through the Emergency Department and check-in with the security officer. All other hospital entrances are locked at that time.
Can I bring toys or balloons?
We encourage you to bring treasured toys, a special blanket or other familiar possessions, since these items offer reassuring reminders of home. Remember to label all of your child's personal belongings.
Balloons are fine if they are made of mylar. Vinyl/latex balloons are not acceptable because they are hazardous to children.
If your child is on a special diet, certain foods or beverages may not be allowed. Please ask a nurse whether there are any restrictions on your child's diet.
If you would like to purchase a gift for delivery to the pediatric floor, the St. Vincent Healthcare Gift Corner offers a variety of plush animals, balloons, toys and more. Call (406)237-3382 to place an order.
