Emergency and Level II Trauma Services

Emergency Services

Our team of board certified emergency physicians, nurses and technicians skillfully treat patients with emergencies ranging from a child's late night fever to life-threatening accidents and heart attacks.

The Emergency Department is open 24-hours a day, everyday.

Level II Trauma Services

Level II trauma center status is a designation granted by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. It is the highest designation possible for a non-academic hospital,  such as St. Vincent’s, without a 24 hour in-house resident and neurosurgical staff.

St. Vincent Healthcare maintains its trauma center designation by providing round the clock coverage for all trauma emergencies, performing rigorous performance reviews and offering outreach education in the form of professional trauma training and public injury prevention.

Trauma Outreach

Trauma outreach education at St. Vincent Healthcare reaches a broad based audience. We offer programs to referring facilities in all aspects of management of trauma patients, especially those in crisis who require transfer:

  • Continuing trauma education for physicians biannually in our Spring and Fall Trauma Conferences
  • Trauma skills training for nurses
  • Facility specific trauma team training on request
  • Injury prevention programs for children such as ThinkFirst Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Prevention
  • Monthly car seat installation checks
  • Training for car seat technicians

To discuss outreach education opportunities, contact Penny Clifton, Trauma Coordinator, 237-4292 or penny.clifton@svh-mt.org
For questions related to trauma registry, call Marla Leedy, 237-4172 or marla.leedy@svh-mt.org
