Headway

Headway is a treatment program for people who have an acquired brain injury (ABI). What is an acquired brain injury(ABI)? ABI could be caused by an external physical force or trauma from a motor vehicle accident, assault, or fall. Or, it may be the result of internal damage from a stroke, tumor, or chemical exposure.

Programs are customized to the client:

  • The Day Treatment Program can be only a few hours a week or up to 6 hours a day, 5 days a week.
  • An initial evaluation is used to get a picture of an individual’s strengths and barriers. Then, our rehabilitative team develops a treatment plan with the patient to address therapeutic and personal goals.

The goal of Headway is to help clients develop active, independent lives, and move back into the community, their school, work and home in a way that brings them satisfaction. Headway is accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

The Rehabilitation Team:

  • Physiatrist
  • Case manager
  • Neuropsychologist
  • Occupational therapist and assistant
  • Physical therapist and assistant
  • Speech-language pathologist
  • Recreational therapist
  • Rehabilitation technician
  • Licensed counselor
