Thyroid Screen
A Thyroid Screen will determine how well the thyroid gland is working. The test first measures thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) with a very sensitive procedure. TSH controls the thyroid gland. If the TSH level is either decreased or increased, this could indicate thyroid disease. A free thyroxin (FT4) test is then done to help complete the picture of thyroid function. FT4 is the thyroid hormone that influences many organs in the body.
