Commitment to Our Community

St. Vincent Healthcare's mission is to reveal and foster God's healing love by improving the health of the people and communities we serve, especially those who are poor and vulnerable. Improving the health of our community starts with assessing needs and responding with services and strategies to improve health in collaboration with other community partners.

St. Vincent Healthcare completes a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) and implementation plan every three years. Our community benefit process is overseen by a Community Benefit Committee of the Board for St. Vincent Healthcare.

Community Health Needs Assessment
Our assessment is conducted in collaboration with a variety of community health partners. The CHNA includes a telephone survey of more than 400 households in Yellowstone County as well as a series of focus groups with community members. Results include a detailed description of the methodology.

Community Health Improvement Plan
Our most recent Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP), developed in response to our 2010/2011 CHNA, reflects our top community health needs of: access to care, healthy weight and mental health, and describes our process for prioritizing community health needs. Additionally, the CHIP includes work plans to achieve outcome measures identified in support of community health improvement. Improvement plans based on results of our 2014 CHNA are in development at both a hospital and community level and will be adopted in 2014.
